Police have arrested the alleged Nilphamari district regional commander of outlawed Islamist militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahedin Bangladesh. Panchagarh police superintendent Shahriar Rahman said Golam Mostafa was arrested on Sunday in a raid on a pharmacy in front of Panchagrah General Hospital. Mostafa was behind bars for three years in connection with the series bomb attack in Nilphamari and released later, he said. He was accused in a case filed under Anti-Terrorist Act on Dec 4 last year with Jaldhaka Police Station. He had been hiding out for one year in the guise of a medical representative in Panchagarh, Rahman said. Mostafa was handed over to Jaldhaka police in Nilphamari on Sunday night, the official added.
